Old Spinning Wheel

I could have made this photo a lot more interesting to look at, but I just took my old spinning wheel out of the attic, and hubby put it in the garage. It is very old, and I am sorry to say the heat of the attic crystalized the varnish, and now it is bumpy to touch.

Wondering if it can be fixed, or if it is best to leave it as is.

It originally came from the Delaware area of the country, and belonged to the grandmother of a former neighbor. She sold it to me many years ago. Are there any experts on spinning wheels out there?

Jeannie,
I don't know to much about spinning wheels, but I do know it shouldn't have been in the attic. That would look cute just about anyplace. Now if I had known you had that hid away I would have had to come over there and take it, then hope it didn't end up in my attic! If you get it fixed are you going to learn to spin? That sure is a nice thing to have. Wonder how old it is? You can always set an ivy on it, and it can weave its way into the wheel part. Kind of Edward scissorhands thing.
