That phrase is certainly proving true this year for us in North Florida. Today...clear, blue, cold but warm in the sun, but the wind is strong enough to blow you over! If this wind was part of a tropical system, I would be one nervous cat, but it is a winter wind and full of spring, and so I am enjoying it.
My favorite poem (or one of them) is by Robert Frost, and here it is:
Wind and Window Flower
Lovers, forget your love,
And list to the love of these,
She a window flower,
And he a winter breeze.
When the frosty window veil
Was melted down at noon,
And the cage-ed yellow bird
Hung over her in tune,
He marked her through the pane,
He could not help but mark,
And only passed her by
To come again at dark.
He was a winter wind,
Concerned with ice and snow,
Dead weeds and unmated birds,
And little of love could know.
But he sighed upon the sill,
He gave the sash a shake,
As witness all within
Who lay that night awake.
Perchance he half prevailed
To win her for the flight
From the firelit looking-glass
And warm stove-window light.
But the flower leaned aside
And thought of naught to say,
And morning found the winter breeze
A hundred miles away.

Jeannie--Love reading your blog. Just learned of it from your email. I collect giraffes and have dozens, but I must say the most adorable one I've ever seen is Abigail.
Also--such a beautiful poem and so appropriate a favorite of my beautiful friend.
Jeannie - I'm so excited that you have a blog!! Just found the link tonight on the MJ Forum.
Hugs,
Kay
Thank you Bev and Kay for visiting my blog! This is more fun than I thought it would be.....especially when I see familiar friends leaving a comment!
